Starting out with homemade bath and beauty products, Katherine Everett of Soap Dodger eventually branched out into nail polish in 2015. ‘Ard as Nails now has a line of cremes as well as special effects collections and cuticle oils.
With excellent reviews on both Trustpilot and Facebook, as well as thousands of tagged posts on Instagram, ‘Ard as Nails’ quality can’t be disputed. The customer service is also phenomenal, as Kat was kind enough to mix up a bottle of a discontinued polish for me when I messaged her asking about it.
The Emerald Isle is a vibrant teal crelly polish, packed with iridescent flakies and holographic glitter, and is honestly one of the prettiest things I’ve ever put on my nails. The formula is outstanding, applying smoothly and levelling easily.
Kat is a proud South Londoner, which was something I suspected the first time I saw her brand name, and says it was her husband who chose the name. She works at a hedge fund in addition to running her business, and is committed to doing the best she can and growing as a brand. She didn’t say all that much about herself, and said she was pretty ordinary, but I think it takes an extraordinarily creative brain to come up with such great products (and work and run two successful brands!)
Kat pointed out to me that many indie brands produce charity polishes where a portion of the sale goes to a specific charity, and she recently did a range supporting Breast Cancer Ireland. I’m looking forward to learning more about this and making sure I support these drives too.
Have a gander at her website and grab yourself some high quality nail and beauty goodies!
